In An Affair to Forget, Niles visits Frasier and Martin and is offered a drink of Frasier's "lovely new bottle of twelve-year-old unblended scotch. It's a little bit peaty..."
He proceeds to down the drink, before heading off to confront Maris.
Considering the amount of casual Sherry and wine drinking that happens in the show, do you think the Crane brothers are serial drink-drivers? I very much doubt they use public transport to get around.

The thing is that there is a conspicuous lack of taxis in the show. Apart from when they take part in the story, like in Flour Child
or The 1000th Show
, no one ever takes a taxi. Frasier has to drive Roz to her date, Daphne has to drive Frasier around in Sweet Dreams (both happen to make plots possible, but they could have come up with better reasons) and, worst of all, Daphne complains about needing a ride home in Halloween
for half the episode, and yet no one mentions that she could take a taxi. It would have ruined the episode if she'd gone home, I know, but it's still a bit of a plot hole.
Aaaanyway, back to the topic
. Both Crane boys hate the public transport. Apparently, Frasier has only ever been on a bus twice, so I'd assume they do take cabs when needed. I can't even imagine the overly cautious Niles driving even after having a bit of eggnog, let alone a glass of sherry

I've wondered about that. Of course, I like to think the best of the Crane boys... in High Holidays, Niles does mention having a taxi ride set up for himself, complete with his name and address in case he's "too crispy to speak to the cab driver."
